Paddle Leadership Program – Instructors Needed

Hello,

In partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia is excited to launch a pilot program to train camp counselors in paddling and leadership skills. This program is funded by a grant from the Department of Health and Wellness. The program aims to increase the outdoor leadership skills of individuals working with youth on the water in the province. During the program trial this will be accomplished by providing Paddle Canada certified Canoe and Sea Kayak training and Outdoor Council of Canada Leadership training to Camp Counselors around the province during an intense 2.5 day program. Our hope is that as the program matures we will be able to provide mentorship opportunities for previous students of the program to become Instructors themselves.

As part of the grant we are also working to identify deficiencies in Instructor / Instructor Trainer capacity around the province, and may be subsidizing Instructor programs later in the season.

The first trial program will be hosted at Brigadoon Village in the Annapolis Valley. If you are interested in teaching the course please see the criteria, and application process below.

Remuneration: $500 for 2.5 days of instruction.
