Canoe to the Sea 2017 - Main Event

Saturday, September 2, 2017 - 9:00am to 1:00pm

Starting at the dock located at the Shubenacadie River Park for a picturesque paddle 39km down the Shubenacadie River with the outgoing tide ending in the historic village of Maitland in the Cobequid Bay.

During the paddle you will experience the beautiful scenery and wildlife such as the cliffs overlooking the river to the bald eagles soaring above!

There will be professional river rafters to ensure boater safety but you may take a little water over the bow. In that case, a sea kayak might be a better choice than an open canoe, but whatever your vessel choice, getting wet is part of paddling fun, particularly on the Shubenacadie River!

Depending upon your pace, the event will take between 2.5 and 4 hours. This is a recreational fun race for families and less competitive paddlers: adult-youth teams (parents, kids, pets, etc.) in recreational style canoes and kayaks.

Difficulty Level: Moderate – Challenging

Cost: $45.00

Registration will be at 9 am with the event starting at 10 am.
