Coastal Day Tripping Course by Candlebox Kayaking
Saturday, May 19, 2018 - 9:00am to 4:00pm
Introduction to the necessary skills used for coastal day tripping.
Expanding on skills paddlers learn in basic kayaking, this 2 day course introduces paddlers to the necessary skills and techniques used for coastal day tripping in calm, sheltered waters.
From clothing and safety equipment, to decision making, charts, and risk management, this course will inspire confidence.
This two day course will be conducted in the form of a coastal day trip in Shelburne Harbour and Birchtown Bay. Day two will finish with giving paddlers the opportunity to learn how to get back into their kayak after an accidental capsize and wet exit, without the assistance of another paddler. This can be one of the most confidence inspiring skills a paddler can learn. On water communication, as well as assisting other kayakers by towing, will be introduced. Paddle Canada level 1 skills certification is available. Immersion wear (drysuits) available.
Course Duration: 2 Days.
Start Time: 9am.
Location: Meet at the Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club and Marina, 107 Water St.
High quality sea kayak, paddle, PFD, safety equipment, and sprayskirt included.
