Paddle Canada Intermediate River Kayak Skills Course by Candlebox Kayaking
This course will introduce paddlers to the necessary skills to influence their kayak in a moving water environment. Emphasis will be placed on basic moving water dynamics and safety and eddy turns/peel outs.
We'll also cover:
- basic river running
- stroke refinement
- reading/running class 2 whitewater
- using a throw bag
- scouting a line
- surfing a standing wave
A strong emphasis will be placed on the fundamental strokes necessary for efficient forward/lateral movement and for effectively changing the direction of a whitewater kayak in moving water. Wet exits and rescues will be covered/reviewed in a moving water environment. Paddle Canada Intermediate River Kayak Skills Certification available upon completion of the course.
Course Duration: 2 Days.
Start Time: 9am.
Location: Meet at the Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club and Marina, 107 Water St. (unless otherwise directed).
Course costs: $300+tax.
Includes: Kayak, paddle, PFD, sprayskirt, throw bag, helmet, drysuit, gloves, booties, PC certificatiuon fees
