CKNS Film Fest 2026 a success!
Every year the Paddling Film Festival begins as a film contest, with new paddling films submitted from filmmakers around the world. These films were created to inspire, entertain and empower. It is a great way to get us primed for the upcoming paddling season.
This year marked our 4th year in a row holding the paddling film festival and it was our most successful, to date. We had 200 people in attendance at the Halifax screening as well as a successful showing in Yarmouth.
Sponsorship was generous, with two sponsors holding tables in Halifax (Fjallraven and Mountain Equipment Company) and one in Yarmouth (Birchdale Lake Retreat) promoting their products. This was the first year we held an online auction of the items donated from our sponsors, making it available to anyone interested, not just those in attendance for the film night. There were incredible items available with some exciting bids! Our canteen was a great hit again this year, with people enjoying popcorn and fizzy water.
We showed 7 fantastic films, ranging from human interest to pure adrenalin: Canoes, kayaks, SUPS and rafts. A special thank you goes out to Noah Booth, a local adventurer and film maker, for allowing us to show one of his films.
