Meet Our Dedicated Leadership Team

A lifelong paddler, volunteer, and leader, Blair Doyle is enthusiastic about getting folks outside to safely enjoy their environment. He has held leadership roles with Paddle Canada and in the Search and Rescue community. With his infectious energy and enthusiasm, Blair has educated 1000’s people with his outdoor knowledge.

Penelope first paddled canoes in her early 20’s in ON (Algonquin and Killarney) and got hooked on sea kayaking when she moved to NS in the late 90’s. She loves paddling places where she can connect with nature. She lives in Dartmouth and likes to tool around Lake Banook and Micmac!

Dusan is a lifelong paddler. His personal interests include historical NS canoe routes, portage maintenance, and NS’s canoe-in old warden’s cabins. He has promoted the creation of new protected wilderness areas, public access to waterways and improved water quality. A retired family doctor, Dusan lives in Halifax.

Michelle comes to Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia with extensive experience in physical activity, recreation and sport at the community, municipal, provincial, and national levels. She has a passion for getting people of all ages active for life in all four seasons and a deep understanding of building collaborative relationships and networks.

Dan is a long-time volunteer with CKNS and the Nova Scotia Nature Trust. He is also chair of the Otter Ponds Demonstration Forest project in Mooseland NS. Long a fan of maps produced by CKNS, he hopes to expand the map offering and promote them to the public. He lives in Tangier on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore.

Mike began paddling with Scouts and a multi-day canoe trip in Kejimkujik. That love of tripping continues today, esp. in the high waters of spring and fall. Mike and his wife Krystle are the proud owners of Old Creel Canoe & Kayak and a strong believer in safe paddling, LNT principles, and protecting our natural areas.

Chris is an outdoor educator with a love for the water. He spends the warm seasons leading kayak, canoe and sup programs and training outdoor educators. He works in environmental education year-round, leading programs for The Adventure Earth Centre. He is focused on making paddling activities accessible and safe for all.

Braden is a seasoned whitewater canoeist, having navigated multi-week expeditions on iconic rivers in Ontario, Quebec, and the Yukon. With 15+ years of experience in public policy and consulting, he brings governance expertise, a talent for building strategic partnerships, and a drive for enhancing CKNS’s impact and outreach.
