We’re hosting a Wilderness First Responder Course at Cape LaHave Adventures on the South Shore May 1-8th. This course isn’t just for professional kayak guides – it’s a great course for anyone who loves to spend time in the backcountry. No experience required.

Seasonal | Full-time & Part-time positions available| May–October (flexible start/end dates)

About Us

Cape LaHave Adventures is a coastal adventure company offering guided sea kayak tours, Paddle Canada instruction, and rentals in the beautiful LaHave Islands. We’re passionate about ocean safety, environmental stewardship, and creating unforgettable on-water experiences for our guests.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, safety-focused Sea Kayak Guide who enjoys working with people of all ages and experience levels and loves the ocean.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead half-day, full-day, and multi-day sea kayak tours
  • Deliver safety briefings and basic paddling instruction
  • Assess weather, tides, and group ability to ensure safe trip planning
  • Support guests with launching, landing, and gear fitting
  • Share local knowledge about marine ecology, wildlife, and history
  • Assist with gear maintenance and daily operations
  • Represent the company with professionalism and positivity

Qualifications (Required)

  • Excellent communication and people skills 
  • Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Level 2 or higher (or equivalent) 
  • Current Wilderness First Aid (minimum 40-hour) + CPR-C
  • Strong rescue skills and comfort in varied coastal conditions
  • Experience leading groups in an outdoor setting

Preferred Assets

  • Sea Kayak Instructor certification
  • Marine radio (VHF) certification
  • Wilderness First Responder 
  • Wilderness Mental Health First Aid Training
  • Multi-lingual
  • Experience guiding in a coastal environment
  • Knowledge of local coastal environment
