Sport Nova Scotia Education Sessions

Sport Nova Scotia will soon be kicking off a series of education sessions. These presentations are free of charge and will take place in the Sport Nova Scotia offices. All provincial and community sport organizations are welcome to attend and Subway cookies will be provided. This includes all CKNS members.

Presentation: Volunteer NS

Volunteer Nova Scotia (NS) is committed to helping volunteers find the right opportunities in their communities and to helping volunteer organizations and not-for-profits find the right volunteers. Karrie-Ann Wilkie will be hosting an education session about how provincial sport organizations can utilize Volunteer Nova Scotia’s services. This will be an interactive presentation and attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop to follow along.

The coaching app PLAYBuilder is an  innovative program that allows organizations access to lessons plans that will make quality programming easier, and allow instructors to keep content consistent across their organization. The app was inspired by Halifax Parks and Recreation's desire to provide quality active programs which led to partnerships between the Halifax Regional Municipality and several provincial sport organizations. Damion Stapledon from the Halifax Regional Municipality will be holding an education session about the app.

Wednesday, November 6 from 11:00am- 12:00pm

Sport Nova Scotia’s Manager of IT, Joni Mattatall will present an overview of Internet security basics. With an emphasis on email, participants will learn how to spot the signs of a scam, as well as learn the best practices to avoid being the victim of Internet fraud.
