Coastal Routes

Nova Scotia is blessed with a coastline that touches 3 sides of the province presenting paddlers with an incredible number of paddling options and destinations from quiet bays and protected coastal islands to exposed coast.

There are sea kayaking outfitters located in many locations around the coast offering guided tours, equipment rentals and advice.

Sea Routes & Water Trails

Canoe Kayak Nova Scotia in conjunction with the Department of Health and Wellness, has developed a series of web based maps of our coastal areas called Water Trails that provide information on access and resources for those planning a coastal trip.

You can also check out Eastern Shore access points from Halifax to Ecum Secum here

In addition to the coastal trails, the Southwest Paddlers Association has updated the information about sites in the Southwest section of the water trail. See their data online: Southwest Paddlers – Nova Scotia

On the Nova Scotia map, each section of Water Trail has specific take out descriptions and also a short introduction for that part of the coast. The takeout descriptions are meant to be a help in planning your trip but do not provide complete tour details.
